The American Offroader Jeep has showcased its first ever made in India Compass few days back. Jeep has revealed additional details of the Compass which is expected to launch in August this year. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) recently rolled out the first made-in-India Jeep Compass from Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune.
The Made in India Compass will be powered by a 1.4L Multiair turbocharged petrol engine which gives out 162PS of power and 250Nm of torque, while the 2.0L diesel engine gives out 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque, these engines partners with 6-speed manual transmissions or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions. Compass comes with both 4×4 and 4×2 variants Compass sports four drive modes — Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud.
The new Compass looks resembles Grand Cherokee. The body looks square, you get the feel of a larger SUV. The design is pretty conventional almost with squared wheel arches. The front design packed with the familiar seven-slot grille and headlight combo from Jeep. The Compass also gets LED headlamps and tail-lamps. Five exterior paint shades will be offered for the Compass.
The Compass will feature over 50 active and passive safety features with standard features of airbags ,stability control, disc brakes all round, and hill start assist. It comes with Compass will feature a 60:40 split rear seats, altered suspension system and all terrain select dial in common . Top variant comes with a 7 inch Uconnect infotainment system which sports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and six airbags. Additional safety features will include a reverse camera with sensors, safety equipment like ABS, ESP and electronic rollover mitigation.
The Compass will be available in in three variants – Sport, Latitude and Limited. With the differences in seating surfaces, paint shades, interiors, alloy wheel design and sizes. It is expected to be priced around Rs 18 to 25 lakh and will compete with premium SUV’s like Hyundai’s Tucson, Honda’s CR-V and Volkswagen Tiguan.
